About Me
Hi, I'm Vanessa. I love to make smoothies and juice...obviously! I'm a small business owner in Dallas, TX. I live there with my husband, 2 tabby cats, 2 American Eskimo dogs, and a foster dog (all are from rescues; don't breed or buy when shelter animals die!). I'm vegetarian and try to eat as much whole food as I can. Many of my meals are vegan or even raw. But I have a major sweet-tooth that I'm trying to get rid of. I lived in Japan (Kansai) for 4 years first as a student and then as a teacher. Was an amazing experience and I highly recommend living in a foreign country for at least a year--it really changes how you view the world.

Other interests/activities/hobbies: science fiction literature/TV/movies, beekeeping, mid century modern design, travel, skin care and cosmetics, gardening (not so good at it yet!), "less is more", post and minimalist classical/drone/ambient/minimalist music, astronomy, and other geeky things. Huge fan of many TV shows (not reality!)--The Wire, Star Trek (TNG, DS9, Voyager, Enterprise), The Mighty Boosh, Red Dwarf, SATC, Battlestar Galactica, Lost, Psych, Deadwood (RIP), Firefly (RIP), science and history documentaries, and many many more. Right now I'm watching Mad Men, Luther, Breaking Bad, and Gavin & Stacy. I really think TV shows have surpassed movies in terms of quality of writing, story, and acting. I haven't seen very many amazing movies in a long time. But that being said, there are some movies that I do love and watch over and over: In the Mood for Love, Solaris, Schizopolis, Vertical Ray of the Sun, Once, Lost Highway, Y Tu Mama Tambien, Rashomon, Fog of War, War Photographer.

Here's a wedding photo of my husband and me in our house with our dogs Sakura and Cherry.
